This will be a serendipitous hike (experienced hikers only) starting out on Firehouse Hill. From there we’ll loop around the old Morrison Ranch and visit the home of Lucas and Mark McCain. We’ll meander about the various connectors in and around the underbelly of Las Virgenes and Cheseboro Canyons. This may include traveling on overgrown and unmaintained trails. After the hike we’ll do the Sante Fe Cafe which is by the trailhead. I figure the hike will be 6-10 miles with moderate to strenuous elevation gain. We’ll proceed at a leisurely pace
Due to the serendipitous nature a smaller group is most desirable, hence a wait list (no waiting for VIPs). We’ll also visit a local landmark that we really shouldn’t, but there are no signs (last time I was there was a few years ago, so who knows).
Directions: From Highway 101, head north on Las Virgenes Road. Trailhead is on the left by fire station but you cannot make a left turn so……Take a U-turn at Mureau Road (0.2 miles north of the freeway). Park in the dirt lot on the right side of the road. Look for the Zev Yaroslavsky Las Virgenes Highlands Park sign
